to the Institutional Self-Study gives instructions and guidance for
conducting an institutional self-study and compiling a summary report for the
LCME. Not available in printed form.
LCME
Medical Education Database is to be completed prior to a medical school's
full LCME accreditation survey, as part of the institutional self-study. Printed
copies are available to schools with scheduled site visits. Database files are
downloadable in Microsoft Word 2000 for Windows format here:
Guidelines
for the Conduct of Accreditation Survey Visits describes the role and
responsibilities of accreditation site surveyors and provides guidance for medical
schools preparing for upcoming LCME accreditation surveys. Not available in
printed form.
The
Role of Students in the Accreditation of U.S. Medical Education Programs
describes the expected participation of students in the accreditation process.
Not available in printed form.
Survey
Report Guide (formerly the Guide for Writing a Survey
Report) advises survey team members and secretaries--and schools--on
the evidence to be examined and detailed in the report of the on-site visit
that will be considered by the LCME in making its accreditation decision.
Not available in printed form.
Accreditation
Issues Relating to Distance Learning: the Perspective of the Liaison Committee
on Medical Education describes accreditation issues relating
to the options for instruction delivery in medical schools. Now, through distance
learning, students can be separated from instructors and each other, and still
be part of the same educational program. Not available in printed form.
Guidelines
for New and Developing Medical Schools describes the minimum
requirements that must be met in order for the LCME to consider granting provisional
accreditation of a new program leading to the M.D. degree. Not available in
printed form.
LCME
Guidelines for Increasing Class Size in Medical Schools Accredited
by the LCME or CACMS describes LCME requirements regarding the impact
of class size expansion on institutional resources for the M.D. program. The
document describes requirements for reporting class size increases to the LCME,
thresholds for prior notice, and the documentation to be provided by the school.
The Class Size Increase Reporting Template is available to facilitate
reporting. The Template for Reporting New/Expanded Branch Campuses
should be completed by schools planning to create a new
branch campus or expand an existing campus, whether or not the result will be
an overall increase in class size.
Defining
the Scope of LCME Accreditation: Programs, Campuses, and Tracks provides
a clear definition of what the LCME accredits and differentiates the various
components associated with a modern medical school in terms of eligibility for
consideration of accredited status.
Directory of LCME-accredited
